
Disney’s “Zootopia” was easily the best-performing of three films that debuted at theaters this weekend, with the animated adventure rocketing to the top spot with $75.1 million, according to final figures released Monday.
“Zootopia” tripled the business of its closest competitor, “London Has Fallen,” which opened in second place with $21.6 million, according to comScore.
The off-beat superhero film “Deadpool” continued to be a major movie attraction, earning another $16.7 million to push its four-week total to $311.5 million.
Another debut film, Tina Fey’s wartime comedy “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” opened in fourth place with $7.4 million, followed by “Gods of Egypt” with $5.2 million.
Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Risen” ($3.9 million); “Kung Fu Panda 3” ($3.6 million); “The Revenant” ($3.4 million); “Eddie The Eagle” ($3.1 million); and “The Witch” ($2.5 million).
